Mölnlycke Health Care invests in new production line in Waremme, Belgium

June 1 2012

Mölnlycke Health Care, one of the world’s leading providers of single-use surgical products, today celebrates the launch of its new laminator production line at Waremme, Belgium with an opening ceremony where the Mayor and the Swedish ambassador, as well as a number of local politicians and officials will participate.

Mölnlycke Health Care has been producing surgical drapes in Waremme for European hospitals since 1976. This is a major investment in renewing the production facility and a significant upgrade of the capacity leading to improved products, a flexible production planning process and shorter lead times. Furthermore, the new production line will bring substantial environmental benefits.

“I’m delighted to be able to announce that Mölnlycke is introducing an enhanced production process which we believe will help deliver an even more reliable supply for our customers. This is a very important step in our efforts to secure a high level of innovation and continuous improvement in the way we do things,” says Eric de Kesel, Vice President Operations, Mölnlycke Health Care Surgical division. “We are dedicated to offering the best products possible to our customers and to actively do our utmost to reduce our environmental impact.”

Reducing production waste is always a priority for Mölnlycke Health Care and the goal is to reduce lamination production waste by 20% with the new lamination technology.
The technology is expected to decrease CO2 emissions from production by approximately 275 tonnes and to eliminate more than 200 m3 of waste water for recycling per year.

Mölnlycke Health Care’s commitment and investment in Waremme will enable production of surgical products at the factory for many years to come.
